About the product

Smart film is a new type of electronic light-control product. Electronically controlled smart film is a liquid-crystal/polymer hybrid injected between two transparent conductive films.

Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) smart films are often described as the curtains of the future, designed for new or renovated spaces for instant upgrades. Their key benefit is instant switching from opaque to transparent, allowing light into the space while reflecting heat (UV and IR).

Technical principles

PDLC film

Without power, electronically controlled smart film is opaque. When voltage is applied, liquid crystal molecules align, switching from opaque (OFF) to transparent (ON).

PNLC film

PNLC films are a more advanced model, while keeping a similar principle. Unlike standard PDLC smart film, the PNLC operating principle is that the film remains opaque without power and becomes hazy when connected to electricity.
